I was tagged by my Bandita Buddy, sexy, sassy Blaze author Tawny Weber.
Here are the rules:
Players offer eight random habits/facts about themselves.
If you’re tagged, write your own blog about your eight things and post these rules.
At the end of your blog post, choose someone to tag (supposed to be eight but however many you can do is fine, no tag police will come get you) (Whew! I was worried about the tag police!) - and list their names.
1. My name (Loucinda) was a compromise between my parents. My mother wanted to name me Cynthia and my father wanted to name me Lucille.
2. I named my son after a character in Mary Stewart's novel The Moonspinners.
3. I was diagnosed with tuberculosis when I was two years old. Luckily the disease went inactive when I was four and has never recurred. However, I still test positive on TB skin tests and therefore, I’m not allowed to donate blood.
4. I'm Irish on both sides of my family tree. My mother's family supposedly came from Cork (or maybe they just sailed from Cork, hard to say) in the 1830s. My father's family most likely came from Antrim or Donegal, probably during the potato famine.
5. I developed my affinity for dark chocolate while I was in college and worked in a candy store.
6. My mother claimed I was left-handed from the day I was born. In fact, I can successfully do two things right-handed: cut with scissors (I didn't see a pair of left-handed scissors until I was 11) and, knit (my mother taught me "her way.")
7. I once had a secretary named Eric.
8. I dreamed the title of my soon-to-be-published (That felt GREAT to type!) novel Death in the Fens, and I also dreamed the ending of my GH finalist manuscript Jewels of the Madonna.
I'm tagging my Bandita Buddies Kate, Caren and Jo-Mama. Also tag to my BFF Whit and my pal Piowapuff. If you don't want to list your 8 things on your blog/MySpace you are welcome to post them here in the comments.

Hey, Cindy, I didn't know all those things about you. Kewl! Okay, I'll bite:
1. I was supposed to be my mother's last child, so I was named after my dad -- Benita, Spanish for little girl Benjamin.
2. I was carjacked in Guatemala.
3. I named my son after Mary Tyler Moore (Tyler).
4. I gave my baby daughter my middle name (Jo) and she passed it on as a middle name to her daughter.
5. I climbed to the top of Mt. Sinai.
6. I almost died from a reaction to the typhoid serum.
7. I'm descended from Jesse James.
8. I was refused medical attention in Israel because I wasn't Jewish.
Well, crap. That's the second tag in two days. I guess I have to do it now!
1. My ultimate comfort food is peanut butter.
2. My father was a veterinarian and we had loads of pets. It totally killed my desire for pets (except one really spoiled-rotten cat named Chaps).
3. All branches of my family have been in the States since they were colonies. No fun Ellis Island stories at all (makes for boring essays in elementary school).
4. I adore liver cheese, especially with mustard and cheddar. Yum!
5. I once baked twelve dozen peanut butter cookies. I have no idea why I made so many, but it made my 14-year-old self happy for many, many days. *g*
6. I once cried over how ugly my feet were. Give me a break, I was 12! Now I find them very attractive. *g*
7. I read the liner notes of all my CDs. I know what "Turning Japanese" really means as a result!
8. I thought Mike Nesmith was the cutest of the Monkees. No Davey Jones for me!
INTERESTING stuff Jo-Mama and Caren!
I love the passing down of the middle name, and wish my family would do something similar.
And as for being refused medical treatment... Depending on how sick I was, I think I'd consider an instant conversion! LOL!
Caren, I wasn't a Davy fan either. My fave Monkee was Peter. You were much smarter, since Mike Nesmith definitely turned out to be the BIG BUCKS guy.
Thanx for playing along!
AC
