It is now LESS than six months until my next release The Treasures of Venice hits the shelves, so I guess the countdown has begun!I suppose a good place to start is by revealing a few things about the story. Here then, are five random things about The Treasures of Venice:
- Even though the story is set in Venice, Italy, the hero is an Irish hunk by the name of Keirnan Fitzgerald (and any resemblance to Gerry Butler may not be all that coincidental),
- The heroine, Samantha Lewis has the same color eyes as me (described by the hero as golden green),
- The character of Serafina Lombardo was inspired by a Renaissance portrait of a young woman named Gianna Tornabuoni,
- The story was originally inspired by a piece of music from the opera "Jewels of the Madonna" but also borrows liberally from Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet,"
- The book features a dual storyline that takes place in both current day Venice and Venice in 1485.

I am so looking forward to this book everytime I read something about it I am wishing it was September already and I haven't even been through my favourite season (winter) LOL.

I'm definitely not ready for it to be Sept. yet. ACK! I have too much to do between now and then... like FINISH book #3!!! But even though it sounds like a looong time, it will get here a lot sooner than we think.
I posted that piccie of the Bridge of Sighs (which plays a part in the book) because I'm thinking it would look good on the cover. What do you think?

It is one of the most famous bridges in Venice, but a lot of people don't know the story about it.
You wouldn't want to be there in 1485, Helen. As I relate in my book, this bridge connects the Doge's Palace (the elected ruler of Venice) and the prison. Prisoners were marched from the palace and got their last glimpse of Venice before they went into the prison. Their sighs are what gave the bridge its name. Hope you like the scene in the book!

I didn't intentionally start out using Gerry as a model for this hero. But after seeing Gerry on a few of the late night talk shows and he's just SOOO CHARMING I figured the resemblance was no coincidence!

I am so excited for this story. It's almost like the little book that could. LOL! It deserves to be in print and now it will be!
