Piccies!

I've promised a few of the cruise so here they are:

First up, here's a piccie of our ship, the Sun. I loved the painting on the side, and see how nicely the DH color coordinated with it!

This was taken in our first port of call, Topolobampo. Yes, it was 110 degrees (over 40 Celsius). So WHY THE HECK is the DH wearing a long sleeved shirt?!?! This is one of those shirts especially designed to block UV rays. The DH owns several and wears them all the time when outdoors.

Meanwhile, here's Aunty in a far cooler environment--inside our cabin, where the thermostat remained set just slightly above 'Arctic Tundra." Our wonderful room steward left several cute little towel animals for us. My favorite was this little elephant.

And finally, since the only things in the tiny port of Topolobampo are some local shrimp boats and a huge gasoline storage facility, the DH and I took a 30 minute jaunt via air conditioned shuttle bus to the city of Los Mochis (it means the turtles). The bus dropped us off and picked us up at a lovely green park near the center of town.

I really LURVE cruising! Haven't had a bad day on one yet. If you want to read a lot more details about this particular cruise, I have a guest blog on Tuesday, Oct. 27th at RazLover's Book blog -- http://razloversbookblog.blogspot.com/

Meanwhile, you can tell me what you did on your most recent holiday! Comment away...

Cool pics. I need to get one of those nifty shirts your DH has. I've haven't been on a real holiday in a while. I would love to go another cruise. I enjoy them and there's a lot to do on the ship.

Thanx Helen!

Yes, the food and the pampering by the ship's staff are WONDERFUL! I really don't care where I'm going on a cruise because I know I'll be treated royally and fed fantastically!

It's just turning spring in your part of the world so your summer holiday season is still a few weeks away. I hope you have a lovely time planned.

Jane,
The shirts are sold here at an outdoor and sporting goods store called REI. Not sure if you have them in NYC, but I'm sure they have an online catalog. They are really SUPER, esp. for someone like my DH who has a family history of skin cancer. He can't be too careful!

Love the photos, Cindy! I've been on two cruises and had a great time on both. Such a fun way to travel with something for everyone.

Love the pictures. That little elephant is adorable. Don't you wonder who first figured out how to do that?!

I've been on one cruise but I was 16 so I'd love to go back as a grown up. ;) Lately I keep taking holidays without actually leaving home. In May a friend flew in and we drove a couple hours down the coast to the Outer Banks. It was a trip, but not that far and not somewhere I could go on any given day if I wanted.

Then I graduated weekend before last and my entire family came into town for the first time since I moved here. I felt so bad that it poured rain and was cold the entire time. Then within hours of them driving off, it was gorgeous!

PJ,
I do think cruising offers something for just about everybody! Plus, the prices have been so low lately that it is cheaper than staying in the cheapest motel and eating at the golden arches!

TerriO,
SUPER CONGRATS on your graduation!!! That is a MAJOR accomplishment and we're all incredibly PROUD of you!

I've been to the Outer Bank once, right after Hurricane Isabel. I'd love to go back, but NOT during hurricane season. ;-)

I think we've talked about this before, that's also the first time I went to the Outer Banks, right after Isabel. Sand drifts as high as the street signs!

This year would have been a good time to go since Hurricane season never really took off. (Knocks on every piece of wood she can find.) We've been VERY lucky!

I've been to REI many times, but I haven't seen them in NY. They have the coolest stuff and most of it is quite pricey.

Thanx Sheila!

Save your pennies. Honestly, the prices are so low on cruises right now that they are the best travel value going, IMO.

Yes, we did, Terri! Can't believe we were at the same place at the same time!

DARN! I WISH I could have been there this year... Maybe NEXT year...

Jane,
Maybe they only carry them in "Sunny" California?!?!

My DH is a GREAT bargain hunter! He buys most of his stuff at their 'off season' sales. ;-) He will also wear colors most other guys will NOT! For example, he has one of those shirts in a salmon pink color. I know because I bought it for him!
