"The Crud" and Florida Dreaming

UGH! I've been sick for the past four days with 'the crud' -- killer sore throat, hacking cough, and aching all over. Yes, Aunty dutifully went and got her flu shot, but apparently it was too little too late this year.

And if being sick wasn't bad enough, last night we had our first frost warning of the season. So COLD on top of being sick is soooo not my idea of a good time. Times like these make me daydream.

Remember the old rock classic "California Dreamin'?" Well, I live in California so in my case, I'm Florida dreamin'. In my mind, Florida is the ideal place to be in the winter, and one of my favorite places in Florida is the Keys.

That little string of islands extending off the tip of Florida is the perfect place for some rest and relaxation. In the winter, it's not humid, just sunny and warm (not hot) with pretty little beaches and gorgeous turquoise water. AHHHHH! I feel better just thinking about it...

Is there someplace you daydream about when the weather is uncomfortable and you're feeling cruddy? Let Aunty curl up with a cup of hot tea while you tell me all about it.

Hi Aunty Cindy!

I'm so sorry to hear you are sick and I hope you get better soon!

The weather here is rainy and very very windy!

I daydream anywhere it's nice and hot (Egypt, etc.)!

Thanx Razlover!

I've been up since 3:30 am coughing! UGH! Must be bronchitis. DOUBLE UGH!

I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to visit Egypt! But not if it is too hot! High humidity gets to me too. I know, picky, picky, picky...

I am so sorry you are not feeling well. It has been 42c here in Sydney today horribly hot and it is going to be like this for the next couple of days before it cools a bit, but it is just about summer here in Oz. For me I love the colder weather but at the moment I would love to be down the south coast here in NSW at a little place called Sussex Inlet there are trees all along the inlet a great place for reading with a cool breeze a short walk along the inlet brings you to the ocean where you can watch the dolphins playing in the waves yes I would love to be there in this heat. Nothing exotic but a lovely place to cool down and relax.

I do hope you ar feeling better soon

Have Fun

I hope you're feeling better by now. I like it cloudy and cool, so fall is great for me, but I want to be inside and by a fire! When you're out driving from place to place, not so much.

Hurray on the latest book! :)

And Egypt would be at the top of my list. I want to go with a Smithsonian tour group. Looks like so much fun.

Oh no. I hope you're feeling better, Aunty Cindy. I wouldn't mind being in Hawaii for the winter or a beach in Tahiti.

Hi Helen,
Sussex Inlet sounds like a lil slice of heaven!

I am now going into day 10 of this crud and I have HAD ENOUGH and then some! Fortunately, I'm feeling a bit better today. The coughing and sore throat are much improved. However, I've developed a pesky ear infection that makes me dizzy when I go online and scroll down documents. WAH!

Gillian,
I haven't had a fireplace since 1990. We really don't need them for warmth around here and chimneys tend to sustain damage in earthquakes and storms. :-( All I ever burned were those Presto logs, but they were so pretty and cozy. Wish I had one right now.

Hey Jane,
You and me and scantily clad island boys serving us fruity umbrella drinks on the warm, sunny beach... It does NOT get any better than that!

If I can just shake this @#(&#* ear infection, I'll be back to my olde cantakerous self. ;-)
